Transfer windows can be a testing time and it appears that Sheffield Wednesday will be tested once again when it comes to Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

According to Sky Sports’ Transfer Center (2.30pm)AC Milan, PSV, Besiktas, as well as unnamed Premier League and Championship clubs, are all keeping an eye on the 21-year-old’s situation at Hillsborough.

The 21-year-old has netted four times from midfield in 20 league matches thus far this season, with only half of these appearances coming in the form of starts.

Dele-Bashiru sees his contract at the League One club expire at the end of the season, however, Darren Moore has revealed that the club have been in constant dialogue surrounding his immediate future.

What an attractive proposition joining AC Milan would be but when breaking it down further, it would not be as straightforward as first perceived.

You have to, first of all, consider game time and the club’s immediate plans and the fact that Dele-Bashiru has not always been starting in League One will question what the Italian outfit will have in store for him from the off.

Then, there is also the competition that is piling in for him and determining what club would be best for his immediate development, if any.

The 21-year-old’s technical ability, vision and work rate out of possession make him someone who could make it to the very top, but ultimately, a straight move to the top might not be the best path.

Vying for promotion at Sheffield Wednesday, he could opt to remain at Hillsborough to see if promotion is achieved. If it is, then he may see a future in Yorkshire.

Dele-Bashiru has earned a lot of admirers since bursting onto the scene with Wednesday.

That a club of the size of AC Milan are keeping tabs on the 21-year old highlights the potential that he possesses.

While he wouldn’t jump straight into the Serie A champions’ starting lineup, it would still be an incredibly exciting opportunity to move to the Italian giants.

Milan have signed a lot of promising young talents in recent years and afforded them chances to prove what they can do at this kind of level.

It may not lead directly to game time with Milan, but they could also provide him with a pathway to a higher level through an exciting loan deal which could end up being as interesting a next step he could make if he left the Owls.

It’s no surprise to see Dele-Bashiru attract interest from clubs, but it’s a bit strange that Italian giants AC Milan are looking at the midfielder.

The midfielder is still developing his game, and at the age of 23, he still has a long way to go in establishing his game further. In his performances for Wednesday this season, you can see the potential is there and his ability is undeniably good, but you wonder whether a move to a team like Milan is a bit too early yet.

The fear is that if he moves to Milan, he will not have the glitz and glamor that he appears to have, and his playing time will be minimal. At his age, he needs to continue playing regular first team football at the highest level he can. It is a massive compliment for the player to be linked with a team like Milan, and if they did sign him, he would definitely be one for the future, but you would worry about whether he would play at this current time.
